A Halloween Poem for 2026
Here's my final plea for everyone to vote

’Twas the night before Halloween
And all through the House
Not a Congressman was stirring
’Cuz Mike Johnson’s a louse
The voting has started
All over the land
The resistance is strong
As we all take a stand
Against grift and corruption
Chaos and greed
We’ll vote to give people
What all humans need
Healthcare and housing
An end to all wars
A welcome to immigrants
Who have come to our shores
To be who you are
To love who you love
To worship and pray
To your God up above
With freedoms and rights
To live proud and live free
Wherever we are
From sea to shining sea
In just two more days
Our fate is decided
Will we stand united
Or forever divided
Vote for your neighbors
For good things for all
Vote for our future
So that we may stand tall
So tonight, as the ghosts
And the goblins take flight
Let’s fight for democracy
And shine a bright light
No tricks, no fear
No surrender, no fright—
We’ll vote for our country
And we’ll do what is right
And when Election Day
Finally comes to an end,
Let’s hope that democracy
Lives on again
Happy Halloween, y’all
Now go make a plan.
Vote like your democracy
Depends on it. It does
You know what to do. Just do it.
