How To Vote (Even When Both Options Suck)

  • Vote and get others to do so
  • Vote for democracy
  • Early voting has begun already!

There are very reasonable people questioning whether they should vote, or questioning how to vote when both candidates represent values and ideas incompatible with their own. With the U.S. midterm elections a mere four weeks away, I offer my thoughts.

  1. To vote or not to vote

If you want to live in a democracy, then absolutely, positively vote! Even if you need to hold your nose, vote anyway.

  1. How to vote when both candidates represent values you can't abide

Vote for democracy over your personal issues. In these midterms, vote against every MAGA candidate -- even if the alternatives are unappealing for other reasons. MAGA is on its way to dismantling our democracy, and without a functioning democracy (a very real threat right now), your top issues become irrelevant as your personal freedoms become stripped.

While that is my view, Mr. DonnaramaDishes thinks the primary reason to vote against MAGA should be to safeguard against the further near-term damage to our country should MAGA continue to have a congressional majority and rubberstamp the administration's policies.

As I wrote in my last piece, it is imperative that everyone vote, and in-person if at all possible. I beseech you to ensure you are registered, that your people are registered, and that you all have a plan to get your ballots counted.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
